Our Story

Welcome to Secret Door Flowers! My name is Natasha and I am an artisan flower grower, florist and all round garden enthusiast. As a child I was obsessed with Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies and have lists I made of flower varieties and the colours they appear in nature.

Growing up in rural West Yorkshire, it was impossible to ignore the seasonal shifts in the meadows and hedgerows. After city life in London and a couple of years in Singapore, where seasons are barely perceptible, I was desperate to embrace the British seasons and return to the Yorkshire countryside.

Keen to give our young family more space, we swapped our postage stamp London garden for a larger project in the Yorkshire Dales. Following several years rejuvenating the garden, it was a natural step to use the space productively and grow flowers for others to enjoy.

At Secret Door Flowers, we grow quality flowers and foliage which truly reflect the charm of the Yorkshire seasons. Our growing methods are as natural as possible, including on-site chicken manure composting, chemical-free biological pest controls, rainwater collection and organic fertilisers.

We have half an acre under production, including a small walled garden (rabbit free!) and are always trialling new varieties. While our primary business is providing DIY flowers and bouquets for local brides, we also have a ‘Friday Flowers’ subscription service, and supply local businesses, wedding florists, sustainable funerals, film sets and in 2023 the King’s Coronation!

Our Style

Please visit our Seasonality page to see which flowers are in bloom during the months of the season. For our orders, we carefully select and cut the freshest, most beautiful flowers on the plot and condition them overnight so that you can enjoy them at their best. Our bouquets reflect a natural wild style and we love to use fragranced flowers, herbs and ornamental grasses whenever we can. We sell flowers from mid-April to mid-October.

Please follow us or get in touch for more information, we would love to hear from you!
